SCRIPT COMPETITION

The Hollywood Storytellers Script Competition (Formerly known as the LA International Script Competition) is an annual event where outstanding Feature, Short, and TV Pilot Scripts are evaluated and placed in our all-inclusive genre contest. One writer from each category will be awarded the overall winner in their respective genre and medium.

Call for entries open every January and close in June. Notifications are sent in July. Submissions are currently closed until next season, but we invite you to read our last season's reviews: Click here to read last season's reviews!

In hopes to cultivate collaboration within our community, writers are encouraged to attend our highly anticipated film festival and network with our officially selected filmmakers! Our annual event is hosted in the heart of the entertainment industry on Hollywood Boulevard at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatres in Los Angeles, CA.

WHO WE ARE:

The Hollywood Storytellers Script Competition is an all-inclusive Film and TV genre contest focused on giving exceptional writers from all backgrounds the recognition they deserve.

​

​Our competition and awards focus on bringing value to all writers, making it our mission to assist in areas of industry acknowledgment, networking, confidence, craft, and building a bridge of opportunities that can move them closer toward their career goals.

​

Our team believes in the power of perspective. It is essential in enriching the culture of our industry and bringing a more inclusive experience to mainstream genres and mediums. Writers of color, female-identifying writers, LGBTQ+ writers, writers with disabilities, writers over the age of 50, and other important voices that have been historically underrepresented will be heard and are encouraged to apply.

Submit your Full-Length Feature, Short, or TV Pilot Script on FilmFreeway Stage 32 or Coverfly when entries open in January 2025.

WHY SUBMIT:

The Hollywood Storytellers Script Competition is judged by a diverse team of active industry professionals that include certified script readers, story analysts, development executives, producers, filmmakers, union actors, and award-winning film & television writers previously and presently associated with: The Black List, The Red List, Coverfly, Stage 32, The International Screenwriters Association (ISA), Stowe Story Labs, The Filmmarket Hub, Buffalo 8 Productions, BondIt Media Capital, The WGA, SAG-AFTRA, Creative Screenwriting, Table Read My Screenplay, Emerging Screenwriters, Film Independent, American Film Institute (AFI), Script University, Austin Film Festival, HollyShorts, Roadmap Writers, and more.

Submissions are reviewed by our esteemed jury and results are based on the following industry standard ratings: formatting, structure, spelling, character, plot/story, pacing, dialogue, action, tone, world building, creativity, concept/originality.

​

Seeking Full-length Feature, Short, and TV Pilot Scripts in the following genres: Action/Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Family, Holiday/Romance, Mystery/Crime, Historical/Biopic, Horror/Supernatural, Suspense/Thriller, Sci-Fi/ Fantasy, Western/Period, and Animation.

​

Outstanding Film and TV writers will place in their respective genre categories. Only one writer from each category will be awarded the overall Feature Screenplay, Short Screenplay or TV Pilot Winner in their respective genre and medium.
